Considerations

Could it be that the greatest human adventure is one’s search of a gift to give?

For sake of legitimacy, do our selfless contributions to a greater good require a corresponding quest for clarity, cleansed intentions and communion? Might life-as-a-gift be an affirmation of one’s affinity with All-of-It?

How closely do our innate processes of human unfolding align with processes of the universe? Recent cosmology theory challenges many long-held-sacred assumptions and inspires a sense of immersion within a forever and grandest of scales seed-to-flower/back-to-seed cycle.

Simply put, contemporary thinkers propose that the night sky is a snapshot in time of an eternal ebb and flow. Expressing their arcane notions as somehow down-to-earth, these astrophysical brainiacs tell us there have been and will be infinite Big Bangs, each becoming the germinating impulse for a hail-spray of billions of galaxies and, within each galaxy, innumerable stars and planets. Forever, these celestial expansions have been and will be followed by contractions—returns to a ready-to-blow-again core. Each of these bloom-like expressions may have spanned a trillion years. “This new model is at once a cyclic, evolving and unchanging universe, depending on your point of view.”

This perspective on cosmic reality prompts us to surmount prior perceptions and savor All-of-It as an arc of seasons without end. Simple enough, right? Perhaps not, for there seems always to be that proverbial devil in the details. Counter to what may seem intuitive—with this model—events during a contraction phase influence the characteristics and behaviors of the next “season” of galactic blooms—those occurring after the next Big Bang and perhaps hundreds of billions of years hence. We need only hold in the foreground of our mind’s-eye the radiance of an alpine meadow where, during mid-summer, countless prior-season adaptations have helped sculpt a seeming galaxy of floral expressions. Each year, there is a like-never-before—yet forever—kaleidoscopic display.

Is humankind in stride with All-of-It and likewise a seed-bud-bloom/back-to-seed process? If so, in sync, our actions today may influence a future “re-seeded” human race. Each creature, each planet, every galaxy, each electron can be seen as a process. From this process perspective, we can imagine ourselves likewise. As a process, it’s both intrinsic and immanent that sometime along a continuum, human evolution will take us to a pinnacle, whereupon, our bloom will whither and collapse.

One purpose for this website is to present a what-if picturing of humankind’s immersion in a grandest of adventures. Asserting oneness with ‘Universal Seasonality,’ if you will, may be one means of experiencing authentic joy and hope. This outlook awakens us to our personal flowering process; to a sense of our gift as a single petal in a forever Sea of Blooms.

A second purpose of this website is to explore aligned avenues to achieving authentic joy and hope, such as, savoring the gift-blooms of other individuals and groups, reveling in the bloom-process of humankind, and being awed by nature’s blooms and processes everywhere—from microscopic to celestial. Some may delight so with the ease of a child but, for most of us, authentic joy and hope may come only after a long stumble through a briar patch of thorny, shifting ethical considerations.

“All the world’s a stage,” wrote William Shakespeare four centuries ago. Thousands of dramas performed before and since, and on all manner of stage and screen, have mirrored to us the notion that when the sky seems darkest and all seems lost, this moment is when the protagonist rises to seize the moment. Might humankind—as world-stage protagonist—seize the moment, save us from ourselves? Might we collectively turn our looming disaster to the most exquisite of adventures, ending with glee and harmony—and high-fives?—all around the world?

Or…are we onlookers, having been startled by the very apex of humankind as one of our universe’s most magnificent blossoms? But—however grand and gorgeous—a bloom—such as ours?—shines its brightest for only a moment. Inherent in this zenith event is the promise of immanent collapse and cruel recycle.

Are we a microcosm in a cyclic, ebb-and-flow universe—one inseparable bit of All-of-It? If so, do we now mourn…or rejoice?

Perhaps it is natural to swing from one emotion to another? Amid this whipsaw within, we might be drawn to ponder: What is my gift?

Having reached its vertex, has a cosmic pendulum suddenly begun its reverse sway? In which case, might each of us ask ourselves: Perhaps it is now my good fortune to add essence to countless other essences—qualities and gifts that collectively may become a hopeful eddy, churn or ripple in a cosmic breeze that will whisk away our forever seed to its next germination?
